Alan Freed, a Cleveland native, played a major role in shaping American pop culture.

As a radio disc jockey, he helped popularize rock and roll and introduced the term to mainstream audiences. His influence launched countless artists and changed music broadcasting forever.

Freed organized some of the first major rock concerts and brought young audiences together through sound and culture.

His impact on entertainment history secures his place in the Ohio Movie and TV Hall of Fame.
